A BIG Hello and launch of our Craft Boxes - Riverside Crafts

A BIG Hello and launch of our Craft Boxes

Hello there! It’s been a while! I hope this finds you well. I know this isn’t our first blog post but it is mine and I would like to give you a little update on who we are and what we do…

Riverside Crafts was formally known as Dalex Krafts established 19 years ago by Donna. It was her vision to own her own craft shop. Riverside Crafts is Peterborough’s largest independent craft shop stocking the latest craft products, haberdashery, needle felting, artist materials plus more.
I am Caroline and I have been teaching at Riverside Crafts for many years. I have worked alongside Donna in providing a warm welcome to all and offering knowledge and expertise within the craft industry.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit us then please do try, you will not be disappointed! We are nestled on the high street in Market Deeping, with a coffee shop next door and a fish ‘n’ chip shop across the road.
Our shop is open Monday-Friday 10am-3pm and 10am-5pm on Saturdays.

Social Media

If you are that little bit too far away to come and visit, we are also online with our website here. Our active Facebook page where we keep you up to date with what is new and happening at Riverside. Plus our Facebook group where our customers share their creations and support and help all those within our Facebook community.
We have a great team of tutors and designers who are passionate about their crafts. We run weekly Facebook lives which are then posted onto our YouTube channel so you can watch at your leisure. You can also find us on Instagram – there really is no escaping us! We love to keep in touch and share so please pop over to our social media platforms and follow us.
We also like to keep you up to date with goings on via our newsletter so be sure to sign up here.

Workshops

Workshops are currently on hold. We will be back teaching very soon in our lovely bright craft room within the shop where we can get messy and creative! Workshops are run on a daily basis from card making to scrapbooking to parchment craft – plus lots more to inspire! All details will be released via our social media sites along with a paper copy. Sign up here for our newsletter to keep you up to date.

Crafting in a Box

Like other small businesses we have had to adapt to the current restrictions. Whilst we are unable to run in-house workshops, we have put them in a box!

Craft Box 4 – Jars of Love
Our Craft Box was born out of a demand from our lovely customers. Those who regularly attended my workshops and needed that contact with some normality throughout lockdown. Each month sees a new project with the key supplies needed plus step-by-step photo instructions all delivered to your front door for FREE! Check out our latest craft box here. You can buy previous craft boxes if they are still available. If you prefer to know what you are getting before you buy – tune in to our Facebook page for my ‘reveals’ shortly after launch. I also offer a zoom class using the craft box. It is a great way to connect with everyone and helps keep your crafting mojo going!

Charity Events

Prior to Covid we regularly held craft charity days with our extremely popular Dabble Day all in aid of Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, Peterborough. It is a great day out, held twice a year at our local community centre. The aim of the day is to have a dabble at a new craft, to play with new products, learn new techniques have a good natter and eat lots of cake and drink lots of tea! Most people stay for the day and enjoy fish ‘n chips for lunch! It is a great day enjoyed by all ages and over the 18 years we have held them we have raised over £25,000 for Sue Ryder. We cannot wait until we can hold these days again and raise funds for such an amazing cause – one so close to many of us.

Throughout the year we also run free in-store demo days taught by our tutors and sometimes even customers have turned teacher! It really is a community at Riverside, and we are proud that these days are supported so well with lots of tea & cake on offer (not good for the waistline!) with donations going to Sue Ryder. We love our charity commitments and cannot wait until we can start running our charity craft days again.

Crafternoon Tea

And we must not forget our popular Crafternoon Tea! The food is supplied by a local tea room in the village and freshly prepared on the day. There seems to be a food theme running through this blog but oh my, look at those scones!! There is of course a full day of teaching involved, we can offer bespoke crafting days, or we can do a craft and jewellery making day – we’ve hosted hen parties and private craft groups – please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Well, that was an introduction! Before I go though, I would like to introduce you to our sister business Riverside Beads. We share the same shop and work harmoniously together – craft and beads all under the same roof – what more could a crafter wish for? Now you must visit us!
Until the next time – happy crafting
Caroline x
